12-bit Binary Counter

At the input, this binary counter uses a protection scheme by including a Zener diode and a 5.6K Ohm resistor.  The number of pulses will be counted by the LEDs at the output.  Since 2¹²  = 4096, the counter will count

only up to 4095.

The IC used here is preferably a 4040B, but any other 12-bit counter should be fine.
